Enjoy The Outdoors With The Family And Get Fit

If you have children you will no doubt be a frequent visitor to the local park anyway. It is great for the kids to run around and let off some steam but what do you do while they are enjoying themselves? Sit on a park bench and natter with a friend? Wander aimlessly around watching passers-by?  Why not use it as some time to get fit and join in with the kid’s fun? Instead of walking away from the swings when the kids get on them why not jump on one too and get your whole body into it or count the amount of pushes you do with the children?

Another idea is to take out a Frisbee and enjoy throwing it to the children or even just for the dog. Another great way of keeping fit and have fun too is to strap on some rollerblades and get skating.  You could head to an indoor rink initially but you can find outdoor circuits in some parks. The children will love seeing mum and dad joining in too. Rollerblades can help you to develop a good sense of balance and strength not only in the legs but upper body and core muscles too – and it feels much more fun without costing too much for buying the equipment (just remember you aren’t as young as you used to be, so protect yourself and go slowly at first).

Hopscotch is a great game to play with the children and guaranteed to get the heart rate up. Master a few different games to enjoy out of doors. Another great day out is a bike trip. It’s a great way for the family to spend time together and in the warmer months you can even stop off for a picnic.
