How do you tell if Nike N-Dorfin 4 inline skates are mens or womens?

I met some loser on craigslist in a QT parking lot to buy these rollerblades. On the inside of the tounge it is labled size 8, which is what I wear and under that is the letter M. I know its my fault for not trying them on right there. A week later I finally got around to using them. When I put them on it felt like my toes were in a vice. When I called the number back it was “disconnected or is no longer in service”. Any Nike experts out htere?

The M would indicate that the size is a men’s size.
Check if there is any indication that the size is US or GB. British (GB) sizes are similar to US women’s sizes.
A US men’s 8 may also have markings for EU 40.5 or as Mondo or CM 26.

Always try skates on when you buy them. Depending on your foot shape, you may need a skate that is a size larger or smaller than your shoe.

You want them to be snug but not the “toes were in a vice” feeling.
If they are relatively new, try smacking the heel (back wheel or brake) of the skate on the ground to try to push the heel farther back in the skate. Some skates have small heel pockets and feel small until you to that and wear them a while.
Another trick to try is to take out the insole. That can give your toes more room and increase the size by about a 1/2 size. If that works, try cutting the insole off just past the ball of the foot to give your toes more room but leave the rest of the skate fitting your foot (I have done that on some narrow skates). You should be using the heel up to the ball of the foot for your skating and the toes are not as important as long as they are comfortable.
