Skateboard bearings – what are they
The wheels on a skateboard turn fast and freely because within each wheel a bearing is used which reduces the amount of friction between the wheels turning and the non moving board. The type of bearing used in roller sports equipment is called a miniature deep groove ball bearing; each wheel requires two bearings, one on either side.
Skateboard bearings greatly affect the speed and accuracy of your skateboard. It is not always the most expensive skate board or bearing that is the best one for you as it goes off your style of skateboarding more than anything else.
The different types of bearings for skateboards
Skateboards have shielded and sealed bearings. Every skateboard has shielded bearings on one side, but you can buy bearings that are shielded on both sides. With the bearing shielded it stops the dirt and grind getting into the wheel and therefore slowing it down, having the bearing shielded on both sides means even less dirt can get into the wheels. Sealed bearings are covered in a metal coating and so are more durable than shielded ones and don’t let dirt, moisture or anything that can be harmful to the wheels through.
Bones Red bearings are great for anyone who is starting out on the skateboard and learning to skate, they are relatively cheap at about £15 for a packet, and are the best quality for its price. Bones Red bearings come with speed lubricant and a non-contact red rubber shield to protect the wheels.
Why you should clean your wheels and skateboard bearings
You should clean your skateboard bearings on a frequent basis anyway but especially if your skateboard has slowed down or if the wheels are making a clunky noise when they spin. Cleaning the bearings on regular basis will expand their life span and the skateboard will work better for you. There are many ways on how to clean your wheels and bearings and it’ll entail taking the wheels and bearings off the skateboard, but doing so will make the skateboard work at its best.

Inline skating is a great extreme sport. You can really get your adrenaline pumping as you fly up and down through a skate park or make your way through a course. As with every extreme sport, there is a high level of danger involved. You are engaging in an activity that has a lot of challenges and risks. No skater is perfect, and even the very best fall down from time to time. It happens to every skater out there. Learning how to fall when skating is a good way to avoid more serious injuries.
As a basic precaution you should always wear protective gear when inline skating. That means you will need some wrist guards, knee pads, elbow pads, and a helmet. You can pick these up online or at your local skate shop. Once you are all set, it is time to head out and start skating. It can be pretty easy to lose control, and even experts sometimes take a spill when they are performing more difficult maneuvers. If it looks like you are going to fall, try to fall towards a less hazardous surface. If you are outside, there may be sand or grass nearby where you can wipe out. On a skate park, falling onto the softer part of a ramp rather than a sharp angle is helpful.
When you are falling, try to slide onto your kneepads and wrist guards. Inline skating is tough because you have to have good balance and control your weight distribution. Throwing your weight at the last second can help change the angle of your fall. Just make sure to be flexible and not stiff when you go down. Try not to slam down if you are falling. Go for a sliding motion instead. Always try to fall forward if you can. You have more protection that way. Falling backward exposes your back, your head, and your tailbone to serious injury. If falling backwards cannot be avoided, then try to land on your elbow pads and wrist guards as well as your buttocks. There is more cushioning there than there is on your hip or tailbone.
New skaters should sign up for some lessons if the want to learn the basics of inline skating. Start simple and advance slowly. You may want to perform some of the extreme moves that you see on television, but remember that those skaters have been performing for years. It is best to take it slow and learn at your own pace.

To buy Christmas presents for children is always a pleasure. Missing experience leads me back to my own childhood, and I fondly remember the excitement and wonder to see the beautifully wrapped gifts and discovering surprises below the cover. Perhaps because today, if I buy toys for the boy or girl toys, I almost always select the classics. Here are my ten favorite Christmas selections.
1. Monopoly. Some have called the world's largest Monopoly board game. I call it a classic. You can not help but be a land baron in the face of a board full of features waiting to be bought and you can not help but be happy every time you can collect rent or pass "Go". The classic Monopoly board game makes a wonderful gift, which makes the young and special edition games themes, games edition.
2nd Star Wars. It's been 30 years since George Lucas made history with "Star Wars", and its popularity has never cooled. When I am in the market for boy toys, I always start with Star Wars toys. Whether it's the Darth Vader Potato Head, a play lightsaber, or Lego Star Wars gaming, you can not go wrong with Luke and his friends.
3rd Legos. What is a childhood without Legos? I love to buy my nephew sets of Lego bricks. Duplo Legos with the little Tykes, ranging from Harry Potter Bionicle sets for the older children, and Technics for the serious builder, you can not go wrong with Legos.
4th Bicycles. When I think back to my childhood, I remember the freedom to get together with my friends to ride our bikes around neighborhood. From the exploration of nearby parks and rivers for a day-long expeditions to other parts of the city, where bikes to our lives. When buying and giving bicycles Christmas presents, I feel like I give a gift of joy and independence.
5th Play-Doh. Childhood would not be complete without Play-Doh. Even the smell of Play-Doh transporting me back to my youth. I love to make Play-Doh as Christmas presents, especially since there are so many more options today. There are machines with themes such as Winnie the Pooh, Farm World, and hairdressing, which provides children with hours of imaginative fun.
6th Puzzle. Puzzles make ideal children's gifts for children of all ages. There are those made of wood for preschool children, those with relatively little drama for young children and those with several hundred pieces for those who are experienced puzzle solver. Plus, Puzzle is the perfect rainy day toys.
7th Roller skates. Roller skates are good for exercise and to increase balance and coordination – and a lot of fun. If the band is on skates Tykes too small or skates for tweens, boots are always a hit!
8th Dolls. In the case of girl's toys, there's nothing more classic than dolls. Of course, today's dolls can do almost everything except for going to school – but it makes them more fun!
9th Magic Set. Every boy goes through a phase where he wants to learn magic. The magic sets I've purchased over the years has entertained and imprisoned boys, who love to learn skills behind the tricks.
10th Scrabble. Maybe because I remember spending hours and hours playing this classic word game with my family, I love to give Scrabble boards as Christmas presents. Boys and girls both love the game, which will also be in a younger version, and I like knowing that my gifts are both fun and educational.
It is equally enjoyable for adults to give toys as it is for children to get them – especially when you can relive some of your own childhood by giving toys that you had when you grew up.
