inline skates in

The inline skates that are made specifically for the figure skaters are having a different design.
It has a stream-lined frame that boasts more control and less weight than regular inline skates. Also, its front stopper is similar to a toe pick. The boot is designed in such a way that it can bend and support at the same time. This allows the skater to make jumps and spins.
However, without these special skates, serious figure skaters should never cross train with inline skating. Roller blading should be done only when ice time is limited or unavailable.
However, make sure that the basic elements are practiced only on inline skates. Avoid roller blading as it can hinder an elite figure skaterÂ’s progress.
Actually, the two edges on each ice skate blade have four sides that the expert skaters learn to use during the on-ice footwork. A wheel that could replace the concave steel blades will be highly advantageous.
Wheels require a different type of balance and maneuvering than the blade edges and therefore, students learning in-line skating are at a disadvantage.
A serious ice skater should never switch back and forth from ice skates to roller blades as this will slow down their progress in the development of balance and edge moves on ice.
Roller blading has adverse effects on ice skaters and therefore, off-ice skating should be limited for athletes as they progress to edge jumps, spins, and deep footwork.
But, that does not mean that figure skaters have no other cross-training options. For effective cross-training, figure skaters can try resistance training, plyometrics, pilates, dance, mountain biking, jogging and hiking.
Badminton, tennis, swimming, soccer and racquetball can also help the serious ice skaters to develop high level of fitness required for a good performance.

Roller Hockey
The sport of hockey has many variations, including the Olympic sports of ice hockey and field hockey. Roller Hockey however, has also gained in popularity, as a recreational activity and as a competitive sport. It is an extremely fast sport, exciting for spectators to watch, and demanding a lot of skill.
There are two distinct disciplines within the sport, with their own equipment and rules. The original Roller Hockey is played, using traditional quad roller skates. When inline skates were invented, the new Inline Hockey evolved. Both sports are played in many countries but the US and Canada favor Inline Hockey. The different choice of skates results in a different skating style. There is more intricate footwork in Quad Hockey and it is easier for the players to maneuver. Inline Hockey contains more racing around and is similar to Ice Hockey action.
The goalies differ in that they use different gloves for each sport. Inline Hockey goalies use a catch glove, whereas Quad Hockey goalies block shots with a batting glove. Each of the Roller Hockey teams are made up of four skaters and a goalie. Inline Hockey, also known as Street Hockey, is played over two, 20 minute periods. Quad Hockey, sometimes referred to as Hardball Hockey, is played for an extra five minutes in each period.
Every sport wants Olympic status and Quad Hockey was a demonstration sport at the Summer Olympics in Barcelona in 1992. Many World Championships have taken place, with the Latin countries dominating. Portugal is the most successful country, winning 15 Quad Championships. Inline Hockey World Championships are rather more complicated as there are two different events each year. One is organized by the International Roller Sports Federation and the other is run by the International Ice Hockey Federation. The United States and Canada are the traditional leaders in the sport but Inline Hockey is becoming more popular across Europe and Latin America.
Women have come to the sport too, becoming increasingly organized. Both Roller Hockey disciplines have structured competitions. Inline Hockey has had Women’s World Championships since 2002 and women have competed on the world stage in Quad Hockey, since 1992. Again, the Quad Championships are dominated by Latin countries. Roller Hockey started as an amateur pastime, played on the streets and local rinks. Ice Hockey may still be the leading stick and puck sport, but the other versions are keen to catch up. Countries without a tradition of playing sport on ice have welcomed this type of hockey too.

Good aggressive inline skates?
Buying guide for Aggressive Inline Skates.
Looking to buy aggressive inline skates but not sure what’s considered a quality brand of Inline skates for inline aggressive skating. New to the whole sceen. Tried it with my Rollerblades that are set up for Roller Hockey so it was difficult but so much fun. Thanks for any help with this question.
There are quite a few skates out there now made specifically for aggressive inline skating, and you’re right…hockey skates won’t get you very far. Many companies offer an “entry level” skate, but don’t let this scare you off. Often times, they just come with a factory frame and parts rather than the more specialized after-market stuff.
Some brands that you may want to consider are: Rollerblade, Razor, and USD. They offer some reasonably priced skates and are quality manufacturers.
Below you’ll find a site I put together with info on aggressive inline skating. It lists out several different online stores and resources as well as information on the sport in general. If you have any questions on skates or anything else about the sport, feel free to contact me through Answers or through the site below.
Good luck and happy skating!

inline skater

With sports such as ice hockey and ice skating being one of the most popular forms of entertainment all around the globe, ice skates are nothing new to the average individual.
Boots having blades attached to the bottom and used to propel a person across the sheet of ice is called ice skates. There is a crescent shaped hollow creating two sharp edges on the bottom of the ice skate. The depth of this hollow (Radius of Hollow) varies with the ability, strength, weight and activity of the skater as well as the type of sporting activity and style of play.
Some skates like speed skates and touring skates that do not have a hollow bottom, have an efficient glide but it cannot cut ice effectively.
There are different types of ice skates:
Figure skates: This type of ice skates is specifically used in figure skating. Figure skates are leather boots with steel hollow ground blades extending an inch past the boot and small heel. In front of the blade there are toe-picks made of aluminum or steel. Toe-picks are used for certain jumps like ‘toe loop’, ‘Lutz jump’. Several layers of leathers are used to make figure skating boots. The stiff layers of leather provide ankle support to the skater. There are also vinyl boots for the beginners that are cheaper than leather. Recreational ice skates may appear like figure skates but they do not have the padding or support required for figure skating. These skates are made for those who simply skate for pleasure.
Hockey Skates: Ice hockey players mainly use this type of ice skates. These are made of synthetic leather, molded plastic or ballistic nylon. Hockey skates look like athletics shoes that angle the feet forward. The blades are almost as long as the boot and curved at front and back. This is to allow the player comfortable movement on all sides. The skates must be strong and durable to withstand the battering from hockey sticks, pucks and other players’ skates. Ice hockey players have their skates on for longer periods than figure skaters. Hence the ice hockey skates are padded and designed to give the comfort and support akin to the best ‘running’ shoes. The goaltenders of ice hockey use a special type of hockey skates- ‘Goalie skates.’ The ankle of such ice skates is lower than hockey skates to let the boot remain closer to ice. The boot is protected by hardened plastic. The blade is generally longer with a low curvature that helps in easy side-wise movement.
Bandy Skates: This type of ice skates are used for playing rink bandy and bandy. The boot is lower than hockey skates and made of synthetic leather. The blade is also a little longer than ice hockey skates to achieve and maintain higher speeds. Design of bandy skates are such that it does not injure the players.
Speed Skates: Speed ice skates are also called racing skates. These are completely different from figure skating and recreational skates. The design is to maximize speed while driving forward. The blades of such skates are longer than the boot and flat in shape to help glide forward. The type of speed skates where skate blade detaches from the heel to aid forward momentum when the skater is skating is called ‘slap blade.’ The boots of speed skates are made of lightweight leather or any such flexible material that allows foot movement during skating.
Touring Skates: The long blades that can be attached by bindings to hiking or cross-country ski boots are called touring skates. Such ice skates have long blades with a flat cross section making it stable. Such ice skates are mainly used to walk between lakes and non-skating sections. These are mainly used by mountaineers and trekkers and for non-competitive touring. The blades, which can be easily removed from the shoes when not in use, makes them particularly useful to the owner.
