yyooo some help with rollerblading/inline skating?

ok
as u probably know summer is near
i, for one, am gonna spend most of it outside rollerblading
the problem is, im not so good
i mean i know how to skate
i’ve known for as long as i can remember
i’ve just never gotten around to actually learning how to do it well
i just need the basics
u know
how to go faster, stop, jump, maybe grind
im only rollerblading for transportation, not performance
so im not looking for a video on how to do a triple axis- something or other
just hot to skate faster, stop suddenly [or maybe divert from a path], jump [in case theres an obstacle in my way], or grind [i dont want to be an idiot going down a couple of steps on rollerblades because i cant grind the handle bar]
thats all
any tips? videos? tutorials? instructions? [that i can find on the internet]
and can i grind using regular inline skates, rather than using aggressives???

youtube.com has tons, good luck

Inline skating aggressive style?

ok i want to try roller blading with tricks i already know how to brake and balance on roller blades its extremly easy but any way now i want to add on and try tricks so if i wanted to do tricks is there a weight limit because im overweight but not obese im 15 and im like 180 but any why would that effect the skating to much or i cant do it at all.plus is grinding easy because im seeing all of these videos with skating and its looks easy

Whether or not being 180 lbs. will affect you depends on your height also. If you are tall and it is all muscle or balanced out, you will be fine. Even if you are a little on the heavy side, the only thing that it would affect is how high you can jump. Although, through experience and practice you will learn how to optimize your jumping height for getting on to obstacles. Grinding can be easy, once you get the technique. At first it may seem difficult, but its is going to take a lot of practice and repetition before it comes easy and natural. Initially it should be simple, with the basic grinds like soul, mizou, acid, and royale/ farvs, but it’s going to take mastery before you can learn allyoop variations and topside grinds, and eventually you will learn to add 270, 360, and 450 degree spins into them. As for style, it is a product of your experience and technique. Once you perfect the tricks, it will show in the way you do them, whether it looks how you want it or not. But you can continue to adjust them and perfect them.

Legal advice, got hurt inline skating?

About a week ago, I hit a stick while inline skating (rollerblading for people who don’t respect trademarks) and I fell. I got a pretty good case of road rash on my knee and elbow.

In http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AhI9tIKcF86OS4fG0VpOwxGpDH1G;_ylv=3?qid=20090928071020AAaXT8Y Kebert Xela said that the person who got injured there was pathetic, a complete idiot, and needs to grow up. Does that mean, by extension, that I’m pathetic, a complete idiot, and that I need to grow up? Does that mean that I’m a bad inline skater who has no business on the trails?

I’m not planning to sue anyone, of course. The city doesn’t have any obligation to make sure there are no sticks on the trails, and I accept that there’s some risk while skating. Still, the fact that I screwed up all means that I’m an idiot, right?

Not at all.
That person is a pathetic immature idiot because they want to profit off of an innocent person/organization because of an accident.

Why do you think these two stories are at all the same?

====Update
I’m with Mike. If you have a problem with something I said, or think I crossed some line, you can e-mail me. Why post a rant that has nothing to do with Law Enforcement?

UK, my daughter wants some decent inline skates for christmas?

I have looked online and am just assuming the higher the price the better they are but I would like some other guide line to go by if you have any.

Sort of true. The best skates are the ones that fit what your daughter wants to do and fit her well.
What kind of skating does she want to do?
Agressive (ramps, sliding on rails, jumps)
Slalom or dance moves.
Hockey
Recreational/Fitness (skating on streets or trails)
Racing (the extreme edge of reccreational/fitness)

The needs for each of them is different. Agressive are the most specialized skates. Recreational/Fitness are the least specialized .

For rec/fit skates, there are a few important things.
Light weight, stiff frame, appropriate wheels.
Most of the major brand skates are reasonably light.
The better models will have metal frames.
Any quality skate will have the ability to have 80mm to 100mm wheels. The faster a person is going, them larger wheels they generally want. However, if your daughter is small, large wheels can be difficlult to control.

Many skates hype the ABEC rating of their bearings. It is an obsolete comparison now that all but really cheap skates come with good bearings and you cannot tell a difference from just the rating.

More important then the differences in most skates is how they fit. To work well the skates should become part of the feet. You want them to feel evenly snug all around the feet, with the length ahead of the toes being the least important except that you don’t want them to be too short. Since each skate model has a slightly diffrent shape, the best thing is to have your daughter try them on before you buy them. That can be challenging for a present but you might work out a deal with a store to get a pair to give her with the understanding that you will come in to fit the final pair later.

If your daughter’s feet are still growing quickly, this can be a problem.
For very young skaters, the skate companies make skates that are adjustable over about 4 sizes.
For older children, you can get a larger skate and add an extra insole that takes up space that they can grow into later.

I don’t know the specific brands that are redily available in the UK. You might want to check out the LondonSkater web site at www.londonskaters.com
They may be able to point you to knowledgeable people in your part of the UK.
Another possible resource is www.thefns.com
